My husband had pancreatic cancer that had not metastasized.  He had a lot of abdominal and back pain. The oncologist said that the pain  was not due to cancer and to speak with my husbands GI/Hepatologist.   I called and requested testing. In June of 2025 , five tests came back listed as abnormal. I googled them and they all said LIVER abnormalities. I confronted the hepatologist and he said that my husband did not have liver disease. I requested another opinion. At that point my husbands hepatologist said if I want another opinion, he is off the case. I readily agreed to that.  The next hepatologist did some additional testing. When I called for the results she firmly said YOUR HUSBAND DOES NOT HAVE LIVER DISEASE.  My husband was rapidly going down hill.  The last day of July, the head of  hepatology at Cedars Sinai came in and said that my husband had non-alcoholic liver disease, cirrhosis of the liver, STAGE 4 and would be dying soon. My husband died within a week. My husbands death was very violent and gruesome. Months after his death I called my husbands internist to complain about the lack of a diagnosis in June. He went through the medical records from the hospital and told me that the tests in June showed abnormalities indicative of liver disease. However, the doctors at the hospital kept denying liver disease.  It has been a nightmare on multiple levels. If I had more notification of liver disease I could have researched how my husband could have had a peaceful and non-painful death. It would also have enabled our family to rally around him from June through his death date of August 8th,2025.  Every patient has a legal right to be informed of their diagnosis. My level of trust regarding the medical community is close to zero. I have discussed this with the hospital and they said "sorry" they will investigate. That did nothing to ease my husbands suffering nor erase the fact that my sons and I have to life with the gruesome painful death of someone we loved.
